Bespoke furniture should feel effortless when it is finished. Behind that effortless appearance, however, is a carefully managed process of design, measurement, manufacture and installation. At Horns Construction, we create made-to-measure kitchens, wardrobes, doors, shelving and bathroom furniture for homes, apartments and high-end refurbishment projects across London.
The starting point is always an accurate survey. Walls are rarely perfectly square, floors can vary in level and period properties often contain cornicing, skirting, pipes and other details that must be respected. Precise measurements allow every cabinet, door and shelf to sit properly within the room. They also prevent expensive surprises later in the project and help us coordinate joinery with electricians, plumbers, decorators and other trades.
Good joinery is also a logistical exercise. Before anything is made, we consider how the furniture will reach the property. Can large panels and assembled cabinets pass through the entrance, hallway or staircase? Is there a lift, a tight landing or a restricted delivery window? Where access is limited, we plan the installation in sections and, when appropriate, use carefully prepared flat-pack or sectional construction so the finished furniture can be assembled safely inside the home.
This approach is particularly important in London flats and period houses, where access is often more challenging than the room itself. Our team protects floors, walls and finished surfaces, plans deliveries carefully and keeps the installation organised and considerate. The aim is simple: a smooth experience for the client from the first measurement to the final adjustment.
Our joinery work ranges from cost-conscious fitted kitchens to high-end interiors with solid Shaker-style cabinetry and a high-quality sprayed finish. We build fitted wardrobes with carefully finished interiors, custom-sized oak shelving units, bespoke bathroom vanity units with solid oak doors, internal doors, media units and practical storage designed around the architecture of the property.
The accompanying project video shows our team installing custom-sized oak shelving units in a property near Paris. We also deliver and install bespoke joinery throughout London, including Chelsea, Paddington, Mayfair, Hampstead and St John’s Wood. If you are considering a new kitchen, fitted wardrobes or other bespoke furniture, contact us to discuss your project.
